Welcome to the Picketing Information Hub. This page serves as the central resource for all members participating in picketing activities.

Here you will find base and domicile-specific information, picket line locations, shift details, registration links, picketing guidelines and other important updates. Members are encouraged to review all applicable information before registering for a shift and again before attending their scheduled picket assignment as information is subject to change.

Members and public should check the strike status on wjcomponent.ca/jobaction prior to reporting to a picket line.

To help ensure our picket lines remain organized, safe, and properly staffed, all members must register in advance for their picket shifts. Please select your preferred location and review the corresponding information package before signing up. Please note that Picket Captains do not sign up using the picket shift signup tool. There will be a separate schedule we will use for Picket Captains and Picket Captain Leads.

NOTE: Only WestJet Mainline cabin crew are required to register.
Members of other unions, workgroups or the public are welcome to join and must not register.

Signup Opens Daily @ 08:00 MT for the following day.

Picketing begins on August 2, 2026 and will continue every day until a Tentative Agreement is reached. The Union will announce this on our website and social media channels.

Picketing Frequently Asked Questions

  • Once a shift reaches capacity, no additional registrations can be accepted. Please select another available shift or add yourself to the waitlist.

  • If a shift is full, you will have the option to add yourself to the waitlist. Should a spot become available, you may be contacted and offered the opportunity to participate.

  • Check back periodically, as additional shifts may become available. You can also join the waitlist for a full shift and request a shift swap after registering for another available shift.

  • Yes. Once you are registered, you may request a shift swap if another shift better suits your availability.

  • CUPE National Strike Fund Regulations only require 4 hours of work in order to earn strike pay. If you are interested in taking on more duties, speak with your Strike Centre Coordinator when you arrive.

  • Please cancel your registration as soon as possible so that another member may take your place.

  • You can return to your registrations by clicking the link included in your confirmation email. Alternatively, return to the SignUp platform and enter the same email address you used when registering.

  • No. Picket Captains (PCs), Picket Captain Leads (PCLs), and Strike Centre Coordinators (SCCs) should not register for picket shifts through the regular SignUp system.

    These positions will be scheduled separately by your local leadership team. Once your information has been added to the system, you will receive an email from SignUp containing your assigned shifts and instructions for accessing the platform.

    If you have questions about your schedule, responsibilities, or have not received your SignUp email, please contact your Base VP or Strike Centre Coordinator for assistance.

  • Please complete the Picketing Support Request Form and a member of the team will follow up with you as soon as possible.

Picketing

  • CUPE National Strike Fund Regulations provide for a typical week of strike pay based on five 4-hour picket shifts, for a total of 20 hours. Members who complete all 20 hours are eligible for $500 in strike pay. Members who participate for less than a full week will be paid on a prorated basis of $100 per completed 4-hour shift.

  • Absolutely! Friends and family are welcome to join you on the picket line. Please leave pets at home. Only WestJet Mainline Cabin Crew members should be registered in SignUp, so you do not need to register any guests who accompany you.

  • Continue picketing until you receive official direction from your union. Any changes to picketing activities will be communicated through official union channels, including our website and social media. Situations can change quickly, and misinformation may circulate. Your union's official communications remain the source of truth.

  • Please complete the Accommodation Request Form as soon as possible. If you are able to participate in picketing while your request is being reviewed, you should also sign up for an available picket shift.

  • We recommend bringing:

    • Weather-appropriate clothing

    • Comfortable closed-toe walking shoes

    • Water and any personal necessities

    • A hat or sunglasses if desired

    Please review your base-specific information page before attending your shift for any additional local instructions.

  • Yes. Registering for a shift does not automatically qualify you for strike pay. You must sign in and sign out using the QR codes available at your picket location. These are separate QR codes. Your sign-in and sign-out times must verify that you completed your scheduled shift. Failure to properly sign in and out may impact your strike pay eligibility.

  • Members and the public are encouraged to wear:

    • A plain white top or shirt

    • Black bottoms

    • Closed-toe shoes suitable for walking

    Weather-appropriate clothing, hats, sunglasses, and face coverings are also permitted. Members are not required to purchase new clothing to meet these guidelines. Please ensure your appearance remains professional and reflects positively on our workgroup.

  • Please visit our Job Action FAQ for information regarding strike pay, benefits, travel privileges, employment status, negotiations, and other common job action questions. We also have an AI chatbot available to assist with general inquiries.

  • For safety and professionalism, please do not bring:

    • Company-issued ID cards or RAICs

    • Company-issued uniform pieces

    • Alcohol, cannabis, or illegal drugs

    • Clothing containing offensive, political, discriminatory, or inappropriate language or images

    • Valuable jewelry or expensive personal items

    • Pets

    Members are expected to conduct themselves professionally and respectfully at all times while participating in picketing activities.
