About Us

  • We are the Union representing more than 4,700 WestJet and WestJet Encore Cabin Crew.

Our members passionate, caring, hard-working, and committed to the safety and comfort of thousands of guests that travel on WestJet and WestJet Encore every day.

  • The tailwinds in our Local’s logo symbolize the unified strength of our historical and current bargaining units coming together. The four tailwainds represent WestJet Mainline, WestJet Encore, Sunwing, and Swoop.

  • CUPE 8125 was born from a vision of total solidarity across the WestJet Group. In 2024, CUPE Local 4070 (WestJet, Encore, Swoop) and CUPE Local 4055 (Sunwing) were merged to combine their strengths into a single, unified Component.

This strategic merger consolidated our resources and bargaining power, ensuring that all 4,700+ cabin crew members are represented by one cohesive leadership team. Whether originating from Sunwing, Encore, Swoop or the WestJet, we are now one Union, one voice, and one Component.

Acknowledgement of Indigenous Territories:

CUPE Local 8125 respectfully acknowledges that we are located on the traditional lands of Indigenous Peoples who have lived, traveled, and stewarded these territories since time immemorial. We recognize that Calgary is situated on lands that continue to be home to diverse Indigenous communities, and we honor their enduring connection to the land.

As cabin crew working with WestJet and WestJet Encore our work takes us across the skies and through many regions that are the traditional territories of numerous First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their histories, and we recognize the ongoing presence and contributions of Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island.

We are committed to fostering understanding, respect, and meaningful reconciliation in all the places we live, work, and travel.
